After a very wet and windy winter we are very pleased that summer is on the way. Lots of the farm was water logged for most of the winter and we did suffer damage from Storm Imogen in February but we are back to normal now, albeit our potatoes will be rather late as we couldn’t get them planted due to the muddy conditions!
The World Pilot Gig Championships have been and gone, Dan rowed as part of a scratch crew that had never rowed together before and managed to come 18th out of about 120! However, Dan is taking a season off rowing as we gained planning permission to build a house on the farm so he will be busy in the evenings – plus after 10 years of rowing his back could do with a break!
We have had lots of new arrivals on the farm this spring, both Winnie and Edwina have had piglets, we have also had 6 calves and Zenna gave birth to a little girl, Ella, in April so Dan’s got his hands full!!
We have recently been busy grass seeding many of our fields for future grazing for our increasing beef herd and Dan has been busy cutting, turning and bailing the hay.
After a busy May half term week we are now gearing up for a busy July & August when the tents will all be full once again. Fingers crossed for a glorious summer!
